Non-Woven Balls

Compare sterile and non-sterile non-woven balls with or without X-ray detectable thread. Choose the fabric construction, finished ball size and packaging for your distributor, medical kit or tender requirements.

Also called nonwoven swab balls or non-woven bobs, these products are formed from non-woven fabric rather than woven gauze or loose cotton wool.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Specify sterility and X-ray detectability separately.

Non-woven balls are used for swabbing, fluid absorption and wound-dressing procedures, according to the selected product instructions. A detectable thread and sterile presentation serve different purposes: a blue thread does not establish sterility.

Choose a sterile barrier pack when the application requires a sterile presentation. Include the required X-ray thread option independently. The illustration shows the range of packaging and visible constructions; it does not establish certification or performance for an unspecified configuration.

Product specifications & packing

MaterialViscose / polyester non-woven fabric is a common construction. Specify the fibre composition required; confirm it for the selected item.
Supply conditionSterile or non-sterile. Select this independently of the X-ray thread option.
X-ray detectable threadWith or without a detectable thread. The blue thread in the illustration identifies the pictured with-thread version; confirm construction and documentation for the selected item.
Finished ball diameterPublished range examples include 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 and 60 mm. Specify the required finished diameter and tolerance; these examples are not a claim that every combination is in stock.

Sterile inner packingThe pictured format contains 5 balls per sealed peel pouch. Specify balls per pouch and pouches per box; other counts require confirmation.
Sterilization and shelf lifeFor sterile supply, confirm the sterilization method, validated shelf life, barrier packaging and batch documentation for the selected item. No fixed method or expiry is implied by the display image.

Frequently asked questions

What are non-woven balls made from?

They are formed from a non-woven fibre web, commonly a viscose / polyester blend. They are different from balls formed from woven cotton gauze and from loose cotton wool. State the required composition when requesting a quote.

Can I specify sterile balls with or without X-ray thread?

Sterility and X-ray detectability are separate requirements. Specify both on your enquiry. The selected combination, packaging and supporting documents must be confirmed before ordering.

Does a blue X-ray thread mean the ball is sterile?

No. A visible detectable thread does not establish sterility. Sterile status depends on the selected product, sterilization and sealed packaging.

Is finished ball diameter the same as unfolded fabric size?

No. Finished diameter measures the formed ball; unfolded dimensions measure the sheet before it is shaped. Include the measurement you need and any tolerance.

How are sterile and non-sterile non-woven balls packed?

Sterile balls are supplied in sealed pouches or other specified sterile barrier packs. The illustrated pouch contains five balls. Non-sterile bulk packing examples include 100 or 500 balls per bag. Confirm counts and carton quantities for the selected diameter.

What information is needed for an OEM enquiry?

Send finished ball diameter, fabric composition and weight, X-ray thread option, sterile or non-sterile condition, pack counts, quantity, destination and label requirements. MEDI-CROWN will review the configuration and supporting documents for the quotation.
